I have a Philips BM7502/00G green monochrome composite monitor I want to try.
Unfortunately I don't have any commodore-like systems just 2 VCRs (Panasonic NV-SD435 and Thomson VTH6410E) with SCART outputs.
When I hook them up to the monitor via a SCART-RCA adapter the picture is all fuzzy but I hear audio.
I tried all settings on the monitor, different tapes, different cables, no change:

Could this be a malfunctioning monitor or simply an incompatible video signal?

Composite will work on the monitor, and if there is no picture from anything, then it is most likely the monitor that have some kind of defect. If the monitor is working, then you can use anything with composite signal. Like Playstation2, SuperNintendo, Wii and anything else. You do not strictly need a commodore machine for this monitor. I have seen a real Commodore branded monitor, being used with a Playstsation1.

Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.

Thanks. I'll replace the e-caps in the deflection circuits and see if it improves.

After replacing all e-caps and the horizontal hold potmeter the monitor works again.
Thanks for your input!
