Are you getting any beeps when only using this card?
What if you're using the card as a secondary graphics card in an AGP Win2k/XP systen? Is it recognised in device manager? Can you install drivers and will it output video once the system is booted?

But are these newer PCI cards like Matrox G550 compatible with a 1996 Pentium 1 mmx Win98se motherboards ?

I will try that: using as a 2nd graphic card in a AGP motherboard.
- I had only G550 installed in that 2006 motherboard without AGP card.
- I have Windows 7 in that MSI k8mm-v.

Do you think that I need WinXP for this card ?
( Are you saying G550 is not compatible with Win98se or Win7 ?)

I don't know about S7 motherboard compatibility of the PCI G550. It is keyed for 3.3V compatibility which indicates PCI 2.2 compliance. But that does not necessarily rule out backward compatibility.

I'm not saying you absolutely need WinXP. I was suggesting Win2k/XP because they're contemporary OS that are easy to set up with multiple graphics cards, making it easy to troubleshoot the card.
I think there are drivers for Win98, I don't know if there are Win7 drivers for it.

I think the picture should though appear even without the need for drivers or operation system O/S ?
- I try that 1 AGP card + 1 PCI card combination.
If it is not working I say this card is faulty.

Anyone have these PCI cards: G450 MMS or G550 ?
How did you setup these cards to work and with what hardware ?

Do they need old analog CRT monitor or will a modern flat screen LCD screen work with it ?

Maybe a cabling problem, how have you got it connected? - is the splitter LFH60 to 2 x DVI-D but your screen has HDMI, DVI-I and analog DSUB. Do you have additional cables / convertors inbetween?

Ebay seller shipped this with G550 PCI.
I tried with Asus VS229H-P(2012) screen:
-DVI cable.
-Adapter+VGA cable.

FWIW, I had a G400MAX back in the day - it didn't show any image in text mode, but as soon as booted into Windows, it worked fine, scored 3DMarks as expected, etc. But until Windows loaded or in a full screen DOS-Prompt, no picture what so ever. I fixed it with a BIOS update floppy (in the blind) And I actually had a G100 failing the same way - used the same fix succesfully ..

I waited for picture maybe 2-3 min and powered PC off. Maybe I should wait until it gets to Windows.
Are there different DVI-cables ?
I used both these combinations in photo.
