Hi!

I was thinking..

A NVIDIA Quadro4 980 XGL = ti 4800 wich is like a gf4 ti 4600 with x8 agp.

I Wonder can i use rivatuner to softmod this quadro to a ti 4600 and use older driver for more compatbility?

I looked into this for some old Quadro cards I found laying around at work, and came across this:

For the 980, you'll be just as well off leaving everything as-is and running the Quadro driver as OpenGL is faster on the Quadro drivers due to additional features and DirectX doesn't suffer any penalty for it.

Yeah i understand this and I actually read this thread in your link earlier when i was trying to find info.

The gf4 ti 4600 has older driver support than the quadro 980xgl

Still i would not mind having an older driver.
I bought a 980 XGL.. Will try it out and se if its possible.

Btw when using 45.23 driver is there any Pros using a gf4 ti 4600/980xgl over an fx5900ultra/quadro fx3000?

I got an Quadro fx3000 right now and the raw performence of it is insane on win98 Titles.

Does the fx3000 driver have better opengl aswell over the fx5900ultra?

My limited testing showed the Quadro4 to be a bit slower in OpenGL (Direct3D was the same). Might have to revisit this at some point.

Shadow buffers. Only game I know of that uses that is Splinter Cell.

I got a Quadro4 900XGL and ran it fine w/o a soft mod. Think I stuck with an older driver like 30.82 or 29.42.

I also just scored a Quadro 980 GXL and running the last Win98 drivers without too many quirks - benches the same as a Geforce Ti4600 in 3DMark 2000 and 2001, so I doubt I'll need to fuss with soft mods.
