Anyway, I personally don't let my pre-c2d systems online, they're slow for it and there is still a little risk. I use modern Pc to access the Internet.

IMO iP2 and slower wouldn't run Vogons website decently.

It used to be you could access VOGONS and it would work perfectly on any computer that could run browsers from ~2000 or newer.

You could use older browsers and it would still work, though with no CSS.

Now it works on ~2000-2008 browsers only after security hacks, and renders without CSS, and on older browsers not at all.

The best computer for VOGONS is now anything that can run modern browsers.

Probably something that runs linux if you want to use a retro computer. With linux you can compile a modern browser on most older computers even if it runs slowly.

Opening Dos files, playing music, playing Dos/Win98/WinXP-games and so on are not a feature of Vogons.

That is a good candidate.... However, retro and vintage software is not a feature of Vogons. We talk about it here, not using it on the site it self.
I say a modern machine, build on relative fast hardware. That can run Win10 or a heavy feature rich Linux or Unix distro, or an Apple Mac.
Those are like the choices out there. You won't be able to use all features of Vogons on something like an Amiga or Win95 machine.
Unless you do some really fancy software setup, if that is even possible at all. (It was possible on the old Vogons)

Well, you'll need something pedantic, ridiculous, masochistic and seen by others as a complete waste of time, but somehow sublime.

How about this one? A 5 year old Lenovo Miix 2 8 Windows 8 tablet, quadcore Z3740 (around the same as a Core i3-330UM), 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, hacked to run the latest Win10 32 Bit build and used to run DOSBox, MUNT, a bunch of arcade emulators and a few WinXP retro games. Oh, and since it's a tablet you'll need a bluetooth keyboard/trackpad or else SDL won't initialize and DOSBox wouldn't run. Oh. And it'll run a modern browser just fine...although running more than a few tabs will crash the browser due to the ridiculously low RAM allocation.
