It's only one of the best best pcmcia sound cards around...

And for older laptops that don't have integrated sound is a plus or for those laptops with crappy integrated sound, such as Crystal audio.

Welcome fellow RDRAM P4 board member. Got one myself and it has 768MB RDRAM (Socket 423, sadly, might get a 423 to 478 and install a P4 2.4GHz CPU in it for a Windows 98SE or XP system) and supports AGP pro cards (once the 6-pin AT connection is established).

I actually would have liked 423 for it's notorious place in history. They seem even rarer. And the 4 dimms/rimms in this one come to a grand total of 256mb. Which is fine for win98 which it will run.

Snagged a Commodore 1084S-D2 this morning off Ebay for $89 + shipping. The green is not working, but it should be an easy fix. Overall physical condition looks to be great from the seller pictures. Very minimal yellowing, few scratches/dings, and the bottom front door is still there. It should be here in 2 or 3 days since it is shipping from relatively close by.

Typical - less common old parts are like buses: you wait for ever for one to come along, then two arrive at once 😜

I've been messing around with an incredibly tempramental ECS VL486E for over a year and a half, but after getting it working 6 months ago it died on me again. I'd pretty much given up on it and had been looking for any remotely affordable EISA system since then. On a whim I gave it one last bash this weekend and actually got it fully working at last yesterday. Today, what turns up locally but a huge full-AT Micronics 80486 ASIC EISA 50MHz. Untested but NIB apparently. I definitely don't need two 486 EISA systems, but given how much 'fun' I'm having with the ECS board I wouldn't mind a plan B, so did a lowball offer on the off chance. It got accepted, so in a few days I should have an impressive pic to share. Worst-case it's dead, but there's no battery installed on the board, so the biggest concern isn't there, just a few tantalum caps that might prove explosive in their old age...

I think it was that model Commodore used in their ad's for 1200's, 600's and 4000's

Don't know if it works yet. Got it from what looked like the original owner. He told me it worked, but sometimes you need to reseat the cpu card to get it going. Something that should be easy to fix. The origional craigslist ad only listed the cpu, monitor, and manuals. The disks and printer were a very welcome bonus. I'm thinking about retrobrite-ing it this summer, with a full tuneup.

Interesting, sounds like the mainboard that I have in my 2nd 486 machine. It's external 25MHz, so with a DX/2 50 CPU? Maybe it can be changed to 33MHz.

Yes, I spotted your topic. Sellers vague pics look like exactly the same board (with obscure Micronics Local Bus and all). If it's only DX2/50, not DX/50, that board is asking for a little crystal upgrade 😉
