Entirely possible of course that this is a different upgrade CPU; this box is clearly K6-2 (non-plus). A different upgrade or even a different revision of the same upgrade could have a subtly different CPU in there, one with on-die L2 cache.
In any event the performance impact of L3 in that case is minimal at best, as latencies to L3 are hardly better than to system RAM. Still, a CPU with on-die L2 is most definitely faster than one without, so very nice catch regardless.
