Found a webshop in germany, that carry new unused Commodore64 spare parts. I bought the following:

2 x DB9 joystick ports.
1 x DIN Video port.
1 x DIN Serial port.
1 x Power Switch.

Next up.... Going to look for IC Sockets and other small parts.

Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.
Those cakes make you sick....

Get turned pins sockets for ICs.

Like this:

turned pins sockets

These are high quality and lasts long time instead of junk sockets that get damaged with use.

Cheers,

Cheers,

That is the what I am going to buy. The webshop have turned as well. The issue is, that the website is only in German, and although I can read, speak and write German. Then I need like twize the time, to read the German language. Thus I missed that they have sockets as well. Signing up for an account, took me double the time. Tomorrow I will buy turned sockets for most of the chips.

Bought unknown model of compaq motherboard that does have 386DX 25, 387 co-processor, and cache controller (A82385-25) by the pair of square cache chips. Does have VGA video chipset (motorala), memory board stacked on the motherboard and IDE port, Floppy ports and 4 ISA slots. Does have slot for 32 bit memory board expansion. All ready to power up on it's own.
I can add one more IDE port via a ISA card made by compaq that I bought years ago and is in my safe stash.

Was been looking for one that is equally old, lots of chips, big board etc and not outrageously expensive. Antique too. Made in 1991 too from the date code on the chips.

I was familiar with compaq boards from old days when I played with them so know what to do to hook up the power once I determined the pinout. I had a IBM model 50Z board that i managed to power up using pinouts information hooked up to the standard baby AT PSU.

Cheers,

Great Northern aka Canada.

IBM Thinkpad 755cse with Selecta Dock.
Locks nice but I noticed the screen is locked. Is this because the Selecta Dock key is locked ?
I want to try to restore it or use it for parts for my other 755 laptops.

Sellers Photos.

IBM laptops of the era had a really annoying firmware bios lock.

Lookup that model, there is a way around it, but it usually involves a special eeprom programmer.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

mmmmmm purty

I have the same exact case for my main desktop. 2 5.25" bay bracket slider mounts are missing and I'm desperate for a 3D printed bracket or a new one that looks exactly like the ones that came with the case. Reason I need them is because my LS-120 is using other brackets from another case and the drive is loose as a floorboard if I press on it lightly, it goes in or slides out if I pull it gently.

Got a bit of stuff from local auction site.

The Tseng videocard has some problems. In text mode, when moving cursor around (and also on some other cases) the character blocks don't get properly updated. Possibly just needs ram chips reseating. Fingers crossed.

Other than that, the red one is GF2 MX400 with 32MB of ram (will be a killer card to my Pentium MMX 266MHz) and an aztech's sound card, which i came to understanding from the internet, that it is very compatible card, yet somewhat noisy and unfiltered.

Total cost for all of it was ~30€.

I really want a dual Socket 370 one day, even if it is a Mendocino only board I can run dual Celeron 533s on. I want to run Windows 2000 on it..

it's probably easier and cheaper to find a coppermine board ^^
but yeah I'm not that hyped about dual tualatins either, because that would require me to get two of them...

Well, if you aren't after -S variants, things like the P3-1200 aren't that terribly rare, I have two. I just don't think I'll ever get a dual Tualatin board. Like I said, I'd settle for a dual Mendocino board 😀

Even better .. You can run 366's clocked at 550 😉 I'll try updating my BP6 with 400's hoping they'll scale up to 600 .. I've bought 4 of them, hoping ..

Please use the "quote" option if asking questions to what I write - it will really up the chances of me noticing 😀

Look for "scrap" lots. I've got more Tualatins than I know what to do with because I bought a scrap lot with just Tualatins in it.

I already had a couple 1.4-S CPUs and saw a scrap lot for sale for cheap so I bought it.

Had a few back in the day, never got over 83MHz FSB with them. Then again, I was plain unlucky, my 366 didn't want to go over 500MHz no matter what I did either, and to add insult to injury when I got my hands on a 300A later it wouldn't even do 450MHz - and that was despite using nice boards with full voltage and per-MHz FSB control. Fortunately had better luck with K6-2 and P3 - ran my P3-700 at 933MHz for a few years on the same board I couldn't get the C366 past 500MHz.

I got this adorable little IBM Aptiva for a great price off eBay, with keyboard and mouse even. Has a 500Mhz K6-2 and 128MB of RAM.

It's a model "2170-805", whatever that means.

I just finally broke down and bought a pile of 512MB CF cards and some CF-IDE adapters that will slot into the back of a PC.

I just had an idea though. If I had a 3D printer (and the knowledge to design things for it) it would be interesting to make 3d-printed bay adapters with beige faceplates to go into empty 3.5 or 5.25 bays that you could attach these CF-IDE adapters to. You'd just need to make it roughly the shape a drive, have screw holes for CF adapter (unscrew the back plate from that) and you're good to go! It'd be amazing to have one that accepts a floppy drive faceplate so it wouldn't give away the modern flash card inside.

Can anyone here make this happen? 😀

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.
