Hi all,

I have DOSBox 0.74-3 and I have the game Hocus Pocus.
I have played it many, many times before. But for some reason, the sound is no longer the original. It has sound, and plays fine, but it is not the high pitched sounds that I know and love.
What has changed?
Before I played on a laptop, now I am on a desktop.
Before I played on an older version of DOSBox.

Anyone know how to fix this?
I have tried all the combos of music card and sound fx card that I could think of.

Thanks for any help.

Maybe they sound different because DOSBox now comes configured to play sounds at 44 kHz as opposed to 22 kHz in the earlier builds?

You can change the sampling rate in dosbox.conf:

[mixer]
nosound=false
rate=44100 <-- change to 22050
blocksize=1024
prebuffer=25

Sounds like you used to have it configured to use no sound card and it was using PC speaker sound effects. Run setup.exe and set both music and sound fx card to none.
