I have EIZO T966 CRT monitor for old PCs that had scratches on the screen.
When I made scratches on the screen, I tried to smooth them by scrubbing, ended up with stain due to partial removal of anti glare film surface.

Yesterday I removed entire coating film and found there were actually no scratches on CRT itself. I’m happy with the results.

After removal black anti-glare film, the color of CRT itself turned out to be rather bright grey color, brighter than I expected. When room light turned on, the black color is not so black, when room light turned off it’s nearly the same as before. It’s almost the same situation when we use BVM monitors we have to reduce light from outside to maintain colors as expected.

Now I’m thinking of possibilities if nowadays films for LCD can be used to CRT. I guess I can re-attach films to CRT just like the way of removing anti-flare coating.
Have anyone ever tried this? How different Anti-glare coating films for LCD and CRT? Do they happen to be compatible?
