Hello,

I want to upgrade my 286 memory, but I do not have any chips. I do have, however 30-Pin SIMMs, and the memory bank connectors are 30-Pin and the outlines look like they could support a SIMM slot. I have seen a motherboard with the same chipset (not the same motherboard) with SIMM slots. I think I can replace them. What do you think about this? Any answers would be appreciated.

Have a good day,
The Revision A

Yep, the pinout, AFAIK, should be the same. You can solder pins onto ordinari SIMM modules or you can replace SIPP sockets with SIMM sockets on motherboard. Both should be okay.

Correct, I would recommend the latter for long term serviceability

I replaced those SIPP sockets with SIMM sockets before because I had SIMMs and no SIPPs. It works flawless and looks better. 😀
