Have you checked the volts off the 2- VRM's ? One should be 3.3v the other 2.8v for MMX 200.

Yeah, I have it in the case all secure. I guess that removing it from the case and trouble shooting it on a workbench is the logical thing to do.
Maybe tomorrow. I will have time then.

Replace the CR2032 battery with a brand new one first. Classic symptoms of a flat CMOS battery this.

Have you got a post diagnostic card? That's where I'd go next. What kinda RAM are you using? Is it one of those EDO-Dimm boards?

Manual says Supports Fast Page / EDO 60nS or 70nS DRAM. I noticed the manual did not state but am assuming the DIMM's are 5volt, not 3.3v

I really hate it when the motherboard will not post in a new build.
Especially when I have it all put together in the case.

Well, I guess I should bench tests these motherboard before putting them into a case.

So I am just putting this off until I get up enough patients to take it apart.

I am starting to hate working with computer hardware because it cuts and pokes at your fingers.

Do you have a older none MMX CPU to test in the board ?

Boards supports MMX's but it can never hurt to try another.

Done the additional basic troubleshooting?
Does it power on by itself when you connect the mains or only after you short the power switch pins on the board momentarely? It's possible the +5/+12V is ok but the +3.3V is gone on the power supply.
Checked the underside of the board for any damage?
Checked the slots for any debris?

that may be the case, but it could need a bios update to use a MMX cpu.

Okay, I double checked the switches and they appear right fo this CPU.
I removed the ram and plugged in a PC diagnostic card.
I powered it on and the motherboard does not respond.
Keyboard check lights flash once but that’s it.
I receive no diagnostic code on the card.
Nothing not even a flashing light.

Er no, i430TX chipset drives 3.3V SDRAM or EDO DIMMs, not 5V

Ok thanks for the 3.3volt. The Gigabyte manual just says (direct quote):
