Back in the day I had a P166 mmx, but I really remember if it was AGP or not. At the moment for Windows 98 I use a socket 462 Athlon 1.4 which is fine but runs a couple of games (like Descent) too fast. So I thought it would be nice to get back to my original roots of a 166. I was looking on the 'bay and reading up specs etc and there's a few options. There's a Gigabyte GA-5AA baby AT with an Ali chipset with an AGP slot, there's an ATX MSI MS5182 board with Ali chipset, no AGP, and a DFI ATX 586ITXD, i430TX complete with 64mb ram and a 200mmx, but no AGP.

Now, I'm not planning on playing anything like Q3 on it, only as advanced as Q2 maybe at a push, mostly Descent, Quake and Doom etc, so I'm not convinced I need an Agp card,I thought a Matrox of sorts will do for now. I'm not a 3dfx fan but I'm open to a V2 if I wanted 3d acceleration. I'm not sure I'm up for looking for an AT keyboard and case so ATX is probably better for me but I'm wondering about drivers for each of these boards? Are there any problems or draw backs with any of these? Apart from the 430tx 64mb caching limit which I'm not fussed about. At the time I was probably 14 or 15 and the shop built my 166 for me so I'm not overly knowledgeable of that era. I have reservations of going AT but I like the idea of a desktop case but ATX is so much easier but I've not heard of DFI boards that old.

I don't suppose anyone could spare some advice to straighten my thoughts out a bit?
