Hi,
sorry if I've posted in the wrong neighborhood but I'm looking for a sound card that can easily work under multiboot (DOS, Win98SE, XP, Win7, ArchLinux) that I could just plug in and use for everything from DOS games to FLAC playback (stereo only).
What's my best bet? The Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS? One of the Yamaha YMF7xx cards? Something else entirely?

Well, the Audigy 2 ZS should work fine for 98SE, XP, 7 and Arch, but for DOS, a YMF7x4 would be better if you want OPL3 support, while still working with the others, but without proper EAX and SoundFonts.

In the end I got both of them. But only got the Yamaha so far (the Audigy is still somewhere between China and Europe).

I hope I'll be able to run them both at once. That might be pretty cool.
