Hello everyone!

Quick update. I've found some more emulators for Windows 3.1.
A Sinclair Spectrum emulator is among of them, I think.

Edit: Yes, it is. Screenshot attached.

I'd made icons for several of the computers and consoles that had emulators for DOS and Windows 3.X a while back. I think I used EmulationZone and Zophar's Domain to look them up. I should probably gather the emulators up, considering the purpose of my site and the content already on it...

Thank you very much! These look really good really - If Vogons had a voting function, I would give you five stars! 😀

Hello everyone.

Another quick update.
I think I've found an emulator for the BBC Master! 😀
I'll have to check. If it runs on 3.1, I may add it to the posting on page 1.

Edit: Here's a picture.

Hello everyone.

I've found another emulator.. I think it's for the Z88 handheld.
I've spent many hours locating that older copy. It runs on WIndows 3.1 also.

Screenshot attached.

Hello everyone.

Today, I've found an old Macintosh emulator that might run on Windows 3.1+Win32s, too! 😁

I’m shocked. The amount of emulators from this era is frickin amazing. I have never heard from them.

Thank you very much for your reply, Bruninho! 😎
I'm really glad that you find these interesting. ^^

From what I can tell, many emulators for Win95/98 apparently started out on Windows NT or Win3.1+Win32s.
But as the years went by, the emulators were optimized heavily. They changed video APIs from GDI to WinG to DirectDraw..

At some point, they more or less silently dropped Win 3.1 support in the process.
The use of newer compilers (switch from VB3 to VB5/6) and the use of threading also contributed to this, I guess.

- I'm still looking for more old Win 3.1 emulators, nevertheless!
It seems that the Japanese people had written a lot of early Windows software, too. Maybe I'm lucky and they still hold some suprises.

PS: Here's another screenshot of several HP4x calculator emulators. 😉

By the way, here's also a special kind of "emulator" (simulator)..

Its use case is questionable, perhaps.

Still cool, though. 😎

By the way, I found an old FAQ about emulators. It's from 1997 and covers several old emulators for old platforms.

I've attached it to this posting, hope that's okay. It originally circulated through usenet, I assume.

I can't believe it! 😳 I really found "Turing-Maschine" by Mr. Pienkowski!

- The website is still up, too, albeit it's (perhaps) not the original URL:
