hi. i've messed with terminator: future shock a lot and have followed a few of this forum's previous posts, but i can't even get the game to run because i always get a missing cd error.

because of this i went so far as to purchase the game. i did a full 38mb install with dosbox and i still run into the same problem. it's also the case with skynet, which i do not own. i have vdms installed and i've enabled its cdrom support to no avail. i also think i've used all applicable variations on the cd drive mount options in dosbox. regardless, even with the retail cd in my cdrom drive, i get the fatal error: unable to access future shock cd.

i have no ideas left. these are my system specs:

windows xp sp2 edition
amd 64 x2 4200+ processor
evga nforce4 sli edition motherboard
evga geforce 7800gt videocard
2gb gskill ram
dvd-rw drive

i've tried the game with dosbox 0.63 and the latest version of vdms. any help would be appreciated.

I got this game cheap used last week and has been playing it a lot in DOSBox lately with no problems. Never had the problem you have, so I'm not sure how to avoid it.

But I do play the game with an ISO image of the CD and mount it with the IMGMOUNT command. Oh, and I do play with 0.65.

i forgot that there even was a new version of dosbox. but i just installed it and the same problem exists. maybe i should make an iso and try it your way, but in the meantime does anyone else have any ideas?

hi
i had exactly the same problem- than i dug up the image file from the trash folder and tried it that way- still didn'T work. then deleted the game and via dosbox->img file-> install i reinstalled it (medium size installation)and just clicked OK in the setup audio screen w/o autodetection- and it worked

now my problem is it's running REALLY slow but i think there were some stuff about this in the readme files but anyway if anybody's got an idea...

i'll try that. as far as the slowdown, have you tried adjusting the cycle speed of dosbox manually? you can do this with ctrl-f12.
