Hello, I'm trying to get the sound working in blood and magic. first, here are my system specs.

Windows XP Home SP2
AMD 2400+
1GB DDR RAM
80GB IDE HD + 250GB SATA Secondary
GeForce 6800OC 128MB
Abit NF7-S with onboard audio

ok, I do a full setup of the game, it works fine. but no audio. browsing this forum somebody said they tried "roland x-10 for midi" i did, loaded the game, the ingame music now works, but the game sounds do not. thats what i want. i don't care about the music.

I just tried VDMsound and i got no sound. so that did not work.

If anybody can help me, that would be great.

oh, and a secondary question. in the sound setup for B&M it seems to be mainly soundblaster. if i was to buy a new soundblaster audigy or pro card, does it have some kind of emulation that might make it work asthough it was the older required cards?

This is such a great game and i havent had sound on it for 8 years. my father enjoys this game aswell, and to suprise him with working sound would be awsome.

I appriciate any information you feel like sharing.

What types of sound hardware does the game offers you for sound effects? Also, some games require very low cycles value for detecting sound effects.

Intel i7 5960X
Gigabye GA-X99-Gaming 5
8 GB DDR4 (2100)
8 GB GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming (Gigabyte)

Well, it doesent offer any for "Sound Effects" just sound in general. you start the sound setup and you can select Midi or Didgital. each option gives a rather large list of hardware. i'll include the lists.

You can also auto detect. but it never finds hardware.
In the midi options you can select the three didgit midi port.
in the didgital options you can select PORT, DMA, and IRQ

here is the lists of options

DIDGITAL:
No digital device
sound blaster
sound blaster pro
sound blaster 16
sound blaster AWE32
Ensoniq SoundScape
Microsoft Sound System
Pro Audio Spectrum 16
Gravis UltraSound
Gravis UltraSound Max
ESS AudioDrive
Roland RAP-10
Toptek Golden 16
Thunderboard
NewMedia .WAVJammer
I/O Magic Tempo
ARIA Chipset
Sound Galaxy NX Pro 16
Reveal FX/32

MIDI:
No MIDI
Then All The Same As Above Until these last two
MPU-401
Roland Sound Canvas

That is pretty much the entire sound setup. not sure what to do. i can get the ingame music to work. i can even go into the menu ingame and adjuct the volume of it. but the game FX will not work. only the music.

Try selecting different sound hardware with very low cycles (<3000). Try setting IRQ5 for SB emulation in dosbox.conf

Intel i7 5960X
Gigabye GA-X99-Gaming 5
8 GB DDR4 (2100)
8 GB GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming (Gigabyte)

I went into the dosbox.conf and shanged the IRQ and then booted the exe in dosbox. the sound now works (yay) but the game is sooo laggy and choppy. it used to run smoothly. with this much choppyness its almost worth it to play without the sound. no matter how much i want to hear the game again.

I didnt do the cycles thing, well, because i have no clue what that means 😀

I just selected in the didgital options "Sound Blaster" in the snd setup.

any ideas?
