Specifically IDE cables that don’t have the blocked/keyed pin? Luckily I’ve had one saved from years ago but I’ve damaged one of the ends and it may not last much longer.

The socket 3 boards I’ve been messing with have all pins present and the keyed cables obviously won’t fit.

Is there a specific name for these cables?

The cable without the pin are the older cables. With pin are the newer cables. I only dont know in which year they haved switched over.

Iam guessing when Socket A with Athlon XP or socket 754 came out.

I just poke the hole out of the new ones if I can't find an old one. Just take a lighter to a push pin or jeweler screwdriver, heat up the sharp end, then shove it through.

I light a candle to get a small paper clip or pin hot and just push it in. Wear a glove or something so u don't burn yourself. dont use too big of a pin and push it strait and not too deep.
