Strange. Could it be something daft like the volume or one of the mixing settings being set to zero?

OK - maybe this is a silly question, but I'm playing this game for the first time with Glidos. It's the demo version (downloaded off Gamespot), and I believe I set up the sound correctly (right click setsound, choose Run with VDMS, etc.). I'm hearing sound effects, music and voices just fine - but when I engage in conversation with someone, there are no voices and I have to read the subtitles. I've got voices selected in the game's sound options.

Are there no voices when you start conversations? 😕

I'll mention one more thing in case it's relevant. Whenever I start this game through Glidos, an error box opens that says "16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem. TOMB. An application has attempted to directly access the hard disk, which cannot be supported. This may cause the application to function incorrectly. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application."

I then select Ignore, and the game appears to start fine.

The error box is normal with Redguard (the website is your friend).

As for the voices, could it be that the demo just doesn't have any voiceover?

I saw a complete set of Redguard on Ebay for about $10 and couldn't resist. The full game works fine with all voices intact, so it must have just been the demo.
