I managed to get the recovery disks for a Toshiba Libretto 70CT, and I uploaded them to the internet archive : https://archive.org/details/toshiba-libretto- … ore-cd-contents
I just copied the files instead of messing with ISOs. I don't think they have fancy bootable sectors or anything, because you have to boot from floppy before using them.
I have a PCMCIA CD drive, but I can't get my Toshiba to read from it during the recovery process. I'd appreciate it if someone could test these files on their drive.
I found that there's a hard drive disk image (of sorts) in two encrypted ZIP files. I was able to run "John the Ripper" on them, and the passwords are included.
I suspect you can copy these to a drive, run fdisk /mbr, and boot it. There's probably more to it though.
Anyway, just wanted to get these files out there.
Sorry to necro this thread, but I’ve spent some time finding different methods of restoring with different drives that work without any adjustment. There were instructions from Dynabook’s website that tell you how to alter the files installed from the floppy so that it just loads your drive.
If you can get your hands on certain models of the EXP Traveler external CD-ROM drives, they tend to work even if they aren’t the 820. I’ve gotten it to work with a 2020 and another that was much later that was an 8x/4x/32x CD-RW. I even managed to locate and buy a Bus Toaster PC Card that will work with it from Noteworthy, but the ones you do find from New Media don’t seem to work or load.
I can’t find a Trantor that works yet. I’m still looking for one.
I did upload a successful recovery image to the archive project in a WinImage .IMA file that you can easily copy over to a bootable CF card or SD card if you don’t care about doing a traditional restore.
