Again, I am not a troll. I however do acknowledge that I am a person with very direct, aggressive and polemic opinions and this causes such reactions. That’s my latin personality, I’m half brazilian, half spanish. I do not expect you to understand that. I never acted like “I never knew it would cause a such reaction”. I fully knew from personal experience that some people could not like my opinion and maybe overreact, but I strongly and personally prefer to be honest in my opinions and they are based on what I see and what I experience.

It's got nothing o do with being of Latin/Spain decent. It's just your personality full stop. Carry on and you'll have this thread closed as well..

It’s your opinion, not a fact. For me this off topic discussion is done, period. Now can we get back on topic, please? Thanks.

😳 <-- I'm in the corner watching this trainwreck unfold while still enjoying XCOM 2 years after release thanks to excellent support, DLCs, and mods...

Have any of you X-COM lovers taken note of Stirring Abyss on Steam? Looks like an amazing Terror from the Deep meets Darkest Dungeon kind of game.. I'm really tempted to buy it this sales season.

I wasn't aware of it. As a TFTD fan, I'm very tempted too !

I would have gotten it but it's pretty new and 20% off is not much of a discount. I have a huge backlog (200+ games) so I can actually wait for a 50% or above discount in the Spring Sale.

If I didnt buy a new game until I've finished all the games I have, I'd never need to buy another video upgrade or game for the rest of my life. Of course most of those games were part of a bundle or free so I don't think they should prevent me from playing the latest games if they get my interest. I usually don't buy a new game until its $20 or less...unless it really ticks some boxes for me. I would buy way more games if they came in an installable state on a Disc in a nice box with manuals and stuff.

I'd wait for more review or a better price too.
I waited a full year for Resident Evil 3 Remaster to be at €20 instead of €60. Because I have the original and the remaster seems not to be as faithful as I'd hoped.
I still hope the Hospital and Cemetery sections are there. They are my favorite. But I still have to play it.
--------

Like a lot of people from Western Europe, I grew up on Sega too (the Sega Master System II), and skipped everything Nintendo until the lovely Gamecube and its impressive Resident Evil REmake.
These last years, I got too MegaDrive + MegaCD (with OSSC) consoles (one of them is a Model 1, the other is a Model 2), I wanted one since I the age of 10.
Despite all the emulators, the real thing is a totally different experience thanks to its authenticity. With modern (and way more responsive) 6 buttons arcade pads from retro-bit, it's better than keyboard controls, or buttons oddly mapped to a Xbox360 controller.

Anyway, I'm playing Soleil / Crusader of Centy an action-RPG à la Zelda. For once, I'm not bored / lost right away, I'm even enjoying it so far.

But the Everdrive cartridge it runs from gave me an idea. What about making homebrew titles ?
It is possible with SGDK, for example . The possibilities are endless.
2020 gave us a lot of new Megadrive titles, and 2021 seemingly will deliver too. To see your own code run on real hardware is way more fun than any game indeed.

Right now I'd like to mod the Speedball 2 MD port in order to have the public's reaction and the famous 'ice cream, ice cream!' yells back. It's a little less joyful without it, compared to the original Amiga version. I wonder if such a mod already exists.

Battlecruiser 3000 and Daggerfall were buggy as hell. That's only two games released way back in 1996, 14 years before 2010. They are many more examples.

I am proud to mention older and more buggy games (from 1994):

Elder Scrolls: Arena was indeed both an incredible feat and an incredible bug fest for its time..

Games without patches, because you can't make one :
- old console games
- old computer games distributed before the Internet became widely available (Amiga and Atari ST games come to mind).

A lot of them didn't get patches. Some were bad, some were good. Whatever their state, you could not fix them once shipped.

I think some devs should adopt this state of mind...

The control panels do nothing though.

All those screens above were captured using FRAPS, scaled in DOSBOX using 2xsai, rendered using OpenGL, and anti-aliased using FXAA.

Never thought this thread would be that long, but now, for something different.....

I'm nearing the end of Chapter 10 - Anticitizen One - in Half-Life 2. I guess I'm getting pretty close to the end? I've put 25.5 hours into this so far. I've been on staycation for the past week, so I'm getting about 2 hours of gaming in per day! Back to work the first Monday of January, so I'm trying to get this puppy finished before then. As for next game, I'm waffling between Metro Last Light, Tomb Raider 2013, and Eschalon: Book 3.

Healing well since my Christmas day tumble down the stairs. Still have pretty severe pain in the left kidney area in certain positions, so I avoid those positions, and every day it's getting better. Yesterday (5 days after fall) was my most significant improvement, and today is an improvement over yesterday, so I've turned the corner.

The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know.

If Im remembering right your close to finishing it. Glad to hear your feeling better. Big falls are no fun and feel like it takes forever to heal and recover.

Ouch clueless that sounds bloody awful, respect for saving the PC though 👍 Glad to hear you're on the mend.

Luck and attention span willing, I'll be finishing Syndicate (1993) tomorrow. Did the Atlantic Accelerator mission, but now I'm dreading an escort mission in South America. The last one I did was pretty frustrating because the VIP kept walking directly into enemy agents, or walking over the dead agents who's corpses were about to explode.

After that I'm debating returning to try to finish Dungeon Keeper or Battlezone (1998).

I have finally made it through my run of all five mainline Elder Scrolls games, this time around with every character being a Dunmer named Lilonah, so, naturally, I've moved on to the Fallout Series. I've only in depth played the most recent one, so I am in for some fun.

That's a lot of gaming! How long through the ES games?

I started about halfway through November, and haven't had school work since the second week of December. I also live in a state that is locked down like a prison unless you're going to a big chain store, so I have had a lot of time to kill. Arena took me like eight hours in total thanks to me forgetting to save half the time, Daggerfall took me like 15 over the course of a week, Morrowind took 58.6 hours, Oblivion 54.5 and 104.1 Hours for me to do way too much in a heavily modded Skyrim Special Edition. Before this, I had really only sunk a lot of time in to Skyrim's original PC port.

Out of all of them, I am most likely going to be outright buying a physical copy of Morrowind in the near future. I enjoyed it that much. While I would love a big box for Arena and Daggerfall as well, online prices for them are laughably expensive.
