p.s: Do you have any plans for a 5.25 slot enclosure? I have a great ambition to install inside my retro computer and connect it with a 26 pin IDC Wavetable cable.😀

wow that is actually a very neat idea! 😮

I think a better idea would be an eventual wavetable daughterboard model that will have the raspberrypi connected directly on top of it and powered by the PSU's 5V Rail.. Kind of like a 2 slot wavetable solution.

Why not make directly a ARM based Wavetable and place all Stuff on One Board.
Banks could be switched by sending commands over mpu for example.

The Pi has many Stuff that no one needs inside a Retro PC, Wlan, Lan, USB.... etc.
It can emulate the Whole Retro PC + MT32... does not feel right to stick that inside the Case.
A full Style break.

Wasn't someone working on a wavetable adapter that takes a Raspberry Pi Compute unit? That can attach right to a sound card and look much cleaner.

I would be very interested to learn about this..

haha yes, i was too ... it was not completed yet,
now i probably change into compute module 4
part of the problem, starting more projects than i finish...
I better first finally MP32.. need more free time!

At least if you target that you'll have some breathing room. Everything is pre-order only with place holder dates of 12/31/2020, though Element 14 is saying the beginning of February.

The new connector should be able to make a slimmer design. And the no WiFi 1GB model is targetting $25 which makes creating an internal MT32 Pi a no brainer IMO.

Yes indeed, i want to make slim version, take less slot space. The smallest one should do, as we only need the computing power for munt.

Maybe I make a new thread on the waveblaster version of MP32, it will be called McCake 32. -->
It will use a compute module 4.. I expect to build a first prototype in december...

Will it use an external DAC or the Pi's PWM audio ?

The board has it's DAC, NOT using Pi PWM

I'm having trouble following all your recent projects Serge, apparently I missed your ESS wavetable project altogether! Maybe you should start a single thread where you post updates on everything, or start a blog or something? Would hate to miss out on a lot of these, the Pi-32 and ESS WT (I love me some ESS) are particularly interesting to me. Also, that Pi wavetable thing - Do you have photos of a working prototype for that or something? Sounds INCREDIBLY interesting.

Looks more like an SC-55 than an MT-32 this time around, why did you ditch the angled front panel? 😀

it still looks like MT-32 in reality, but on a frontal photo, you can't see the angle...
