Hi fellas. A question, if I may?
I have LBA1 and LBA2 from GOG.
I tried to overwrite the DOSBox included with LBA1 with the latest DOSBox-X to use the filter "xbrz". Works perfect and looks very crisp.
In LBA2 however, the game will not run at all if I change the included DOSBox executable. No error messages, nothing, just window close.
Any idea whatsoever why it won't work with LBA2?
I assume you want to play the LBA2 game with DOSBox-X because it supports features like the xBRz scaler.
I just tried to run LBA2: Twinsen's Odyssey (demo) in DOSBox-X 0.83.9 with xBRz scaler (scaler=xbrz) and it works (see screenshot below). But I tried with the demo version of the game and with the standard setting of DOSBox-X except with the xBRz scaler enabled. Perhaps a different setting is used on your environment - if this is the case you can probably try the default setting with xBRZ scaler enabled and see if it works? For example, you can start DOSBox-X with "dosbox-x -defaultconf -set scaler=xbrz" and then try to run the game.
The GOG version is CD based. Maybe that's why I'm having issues?
