Stargun use PMODE/W DOS extender and, in dosbox svn 4406 is not working anymore.
I compiled with gcc 4.6.1 and 8.0.1.
Dosbox 74.0.3 is ok.

I assume you mean stargunner. Do you happen to know if it broke in 4406 or earlier ?
Any more info ? I tried with latest code and I could start a mission.

I use dosbox under win10 20h2 64bit
I tested stargunner v1.0b & v1.1 with 16MB RAM, S3 video card and SB16 (7-1-5 irq)
dosbox r4113 (from https://dosboxece.yesterplay.net/download/index.php#archive ) is ok
dosbox r4114 (autocompiled) is ok
dosbox r4115 (autocompiled) is ok
dosbox r4116 - r4166 (from https://dosboxece.yesterplay.net/download/index.php#archive )
error with PMODE/W Not enough memory available!
dosbox r4168 (from https://dosboxece.yesterplay.net/download/index.php#archive ) hangs
dosbox r4406 (autocompiled) hangs
I used MINGW TDM 4.6.1 with msys
and MINGW 8.0.1 from
https://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw-w64/fi … ev0.7z/download

Mmm both commits that you mentioned, change stuff are related to DPD, so which drives did you mount in dosbox ?
(I used only C )

I found the problem:
some dos program edited my autoexec.bat and added
SHARE.EXE /L:500 /F:5100
rem this line and now stargunner not hangs anymore
