Tried using loadfix before running the game?

Tried all xms and/or ems combinations?

You must use the LOADFIX command before executing the game.

In the dosbox.conf configuration file try changing xms and ems values to enabled/disabled.

After using the loadfix command you should see this text below:

64 kb allocated.

This is due to the fact that some older games didn't expect so much "free conventional" memory available as DOSBox (and some memory managers at the time) provided. In fact, older PCs didn't even have 640KB of conventional memory.

Try setting XMS=true and EMS=false and see what happens. Try also configuring the game for NO SOUND. If it works that way, try selecting a different audio driver.

i did as you told me about loadfix
and i tried to change the settings:
xms=true
ems=false
umb=max

but the game needs the ems. i also made combination between them
and the game does not work with soundfx
(by the way. the game is working perfectly with music from the disc.
the problem is the soundfx)

the files of the sound are:
DRV_BZ.COM
DRV_SB.COM(thats what i need to be using - i have sound blaster live)
DRV_SBD.COM
DRV_SMP.COM
DRV_SS.COM
DRV_VM.COM
i tried all sound files.

i have alone in the dark 1,2 and everything works perfectly with sound.
something in dosbox needs to be configure right for it to work with soundfx.

I doubt you need to run those .com files manually. Use the installer,
configure the sound correctly (irq7 dma1) and try again.
Maybe try different soundblaster types (sb16, sbpro).

Yes. Soundcards in DOSBox are emulated, so it doesn't really matter what type of physical soundcard do you have.

I TREID IT ALL.

ITS A MEMORY PROBLEM.

i need to free memory some how for the game will run with soundfx

when i'm running the game with only music in the background its all ok.
but when i'm switching "soundfx:off" to "soundfx:on" the game collapses
and write me "memory-00:not anough dos memory error"

Why don't you go freeing some memory then and bother us here if you know it better?

I finished aitd3 cd version relatively recently using dosbox 0.65, and it should work perfectly without memory problems. First, make sure that you've set memsize in dosbox config to a maximum size of 16. Second, install.exe is what you need to configure your sound card in aitd3. Then you type 'aitd3.exe' to run the game. There is absolutely no need to run "drv_sb.com" manually or any other file of that kind. It should work with ems on, xms on, and umb on. Try running in normal core and/or dynamic core too. But the most important thing is to type 'aitd3.exe' to run the game and not manually run the drv_sb.com file.
