//update Re: CPU voltage reg. chip upgrade (slot 1) to support P3
I have KM6ZMS Slot 1 440ZX mainboard. It uses HIP6018 voltage reg chip which goes only down to 1.8V. It supports only P2 and P3 Katmai out of the box, but I managed to get Coopermine running by masking two VID pins and connecting one to GND, so it runs on 1.8V instead of 1.65V.
Overvolted Coppermine works, but the power consumption is almost as high as Katmai because of increased voltage. I want to achieve maximum power efficiency, because i'm using pico PSU which has very limited 5V rail.
HIP6016 looks pin-compatible to HIP6018 and goes down to 1.3V. Can I just replace that chip and expect the mobo to work with lower voltage Coppermines? Has anyone done such swap?
I also found this in documenation: Given the pin-to-pin compatibility to HIP6018, the HIP6016 can be evaluated in a HIP6018EVAL1 evaluation board

RT9228 and RT9227A also have the same pinout and Coppermine voltage capability. Are these chips interchangable in general?
