A friend donated this to me today too - Shuttle AK32A VIA KT266A motherboard with an Athlon 1.1GHz (with very chipped edges on the CPU!) and a 256MB PC100 DIMM. No idea if it works yet.

  • Terratec MiniWaveSystem SOWT-12 Ver 1.0

The soundcard might not impressive, but there is a fun little detail on the back referencing Alice, Jefferson Airplane and Matrix.

And it came with this wavetable module I could not let pass for this cheap.
Here it is next to my other old IBM Aptiva S-W1/C with the same chipset. I guess they will sound the same with their 1MB Soundfont ROMs? Maybe not, I will find out.

Nice find, just looked it up on eBay, that was really a fantastic deal. Reminds me of one time I got a similar deal, not quite as cheap, but also a Terratec card with one of those SOWT daughterboards (can't remember which one, I really need to start an inventory...).

While I've been in Poland I've bought these PC cases. These are brand new! Our local shop "ProLine" put huge discount on some "outdated" products. These are brand new, packed in an original cartoon package. I'm stunned.
The price for 4 PC cases was ~ 47 USD.

Hi, do any of these PC cases have a removable motherboard tray? I would like to buy one of them and it is important to me.

I set my friends up with a computer back in 2001 with an Elan Vital case, and a Soyo K7VTA motherboard. A year or so later the board died because of a voltage spike, so I bought them one of those Shuttle motherboards since it was still available new, and could use all of their other parts. The Elan Vital wasn't a particularly well ventilated case, and with the northbridge only held on with doublesided tape it eventually slid partway off because of the heat, making the computer unstable. As they were a couple of states away, all they could tell me was that it was locking up, so I advised them to take the side panel off, and it did work much better. Later on I salvaged a northbridge cooler from a dead mobo that was held on with push pins, and the board worked very well after that. I ended up with it in my stash after a later upgrade, and it was still in good working condition until November 8, 2018.

Got ITT EXRA|Profession Series 10Mhz 8088 Model-No. 401470-007 system from 1987 this week. Smaller form factor than my Redstone XT-Turbo system. I really did n't what another XT class system but one was far to good a deal to pass up. It has a 8087 maths co-processor, 768kb of ram stock, a 720k 3.5" fdd with the controller is on the motherboard, the Microscribe HDD and controller which were removed because the hard drive is dead, mono/colour video, and this is icing on the cake-a Rev2 XT-IDE isa card along with CF adapter with 64meg CF with cost more than I paid for the entire system.

Swiiched video from mono to colour, inserted a PC Dos 5 .02 then MS Dos 5a boot disk and both booted up fine on the EGA monitor I have. There seems to be an issue with the XT-IDE set up. I suspect the problem is the mobo jumper settings. The jumpers on the XT-IDE card are set exactly the same as my Redstone Computers XT-Turbo system which boots up the 4gig bigfoot drive just fine.

minuszerodegrees.net has a service manual for an ITT 8088 system but it is for the 1985 model which has vertical ISA slots. He also has the later MS Dos 3.2. The MFM hdd has Dos 3.3 on written with a red permanent maker. If any one has info on the jumper settings or a pdf of the serviced would rapped to have a copy of it. Mobo part no. is 401452-01A

Any way in general in very happy with the purchase.

Nice ! Reminds me of the mini PC's Unysis made back in early 90's. All I got was a Lite-On LTR-48125w with beige front in near new condition from a local store for $7. If does not work can return within 3 days for credit (GW gives 14)

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Got this from the post office today , took a while to find an mpu 401 for a not insane price.
Not cheap , but considering the value of some retro hardware today or even cost of some aftermarket solutions ,
it honestly could have been worse.
Plus hey resale value amright?

This beauty arrived today.

- Out: S3 Trio64V+
- In: RivaTNT2 PRO
Really happy with the results. Now I can enjoy some good old 3D games with smooth graphics, but my search for a MX 400 PCI still strong.

Wow, what an odd thing that is.

I would check that with Everest or RivaTuner or some other program to see what it really is and if it has a 64bit or 128bit memory bus. I have my doubts that that is a real Pro. With no brand name, a Geforce logo on the box and only two memory chips on each side, it is much more likely to be an M64 to me. Sadly, they can put whatever they want on the box and the label. Either way, an M64 is infinitely better than a Trio64V+ in 3D gaming, but a Pro would be significantly faster still. 😀

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

Well, 64bit it is, what a bummer 🙁

But, at least it's an improvement over my Trio64V+. Thanks for the tips.

Yeah, that's probably accurate, but you can double check it if you can get to the screen that looks like this:
https://img.utdstc.com/screen/1/rivatuner-004.jpg:800
I think you get there by clicking the tiny arrow by "customize" (in the box where it says 64bit) then clicking the computer with the letter "i".
It should give some rough information about the memory BUS, and maybe clock speeds, though I've gotten some pretty wrong info about clock speeds from Rivatuner on TNT cards lately, so I wouldn't pay much attention to that part.

Also, Everest Home Edition (I use 2.01) would give you a good second opinion.

Anyway, it's still a great PCI card for older games. Should trade blows with an original TNT, which was also no slouch for 1997-1998 games.

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

I think the risk there is that the seller doesn't know what he's looking at and someone chucked their old S3 card in the box when they upgraded - it'll be a great score if it's the right card though!
