I am new to these forums, but not new to old computers! I have been lurking these forums for the last month or so, with my biggest learnings being the differences in modern vs. original ATX power supplies. Progressing through this technology through the years, I never really realized the differences, as my own personal new-component build was at the advent of the AMD A64 release. Prior to that, I was just using used and handy-down parts from systems we had around the house.

I have been saving and collecting computers and computer parts for the last 20 years, and I am at the point where I am letting go of the majority of the collection and deciding what to keep.

In going through all of the stuff, I am also building up some systems from eras that had a big impact on my growth with IT and computers in general.

So far I have built a 486 system to run DOS 6.22 and Win 3.11, an AMD K6-II 400MHz system to run windows 98, and I am currently working on building a "personal ultimate" AMD Athlon XP system (waiting for caps to refurb the Antec TruePower 450W).

My introduction to PCs started with an HP Vectra QS/16 which we ran DOS 2 and 3 on, before moving onto a 486/60 to run DOS 6.22 and Win 3.x. Next was the Pentium 166 and various Socket 7 chips, most of which I still have or have sold off to those who will get some enjoyment out of it.

I hope to spend at least a few months here, able to share what knowledge or experiences I have gained along the way, maybe even help supply some parts to some of you in need of things I am letting go of!
