Did you try the .au ones?
If those don't work, there's always archive.org...

Maybe but looks like it's an older version. I was thinking more like just copying the .au links into archive.org's Wayback Machine.
This kind of stuff makes me worried about what would happen if archive.org went MIA someday...
Btw the .au links worked for me just a couple of months ago.

oo there it goes. those links worked!

okay. so in skimming over that page I think that is a little more complicated than I had thought.. is this not just a regular driver? this may be over my head..

what is the iso thing? is that like a auto installer from cd?

also, what happened to that windows 98 live cd? anyone have a good link for that?

Great, so those big bucks they're paying for hosting aren't going to waste 😁
Yea that .iso is a bit wierd as it's only 2.6MB. You can open those with 7z usually, there's a lot more that they can used for but here it seems like it's just for packaging (well maybe it's for autorun).

The VBE9x drivers are great for virtual machine use, but they should work for (some) real hardware too.
I've only briefly used them with qemu-3dfx myself, so can't tell you much. But please note that there are some bugs that are outlined on the dl page (search for "unsolved problems").

Nothing happened I suppose, it's still there 😁
(I mean the 2010 version - there doesn't seem to be anything newer)
I haven't used those LiveCDs myself, but it looks like WinBuilder would be the tool for the job should you ever need one.

Well, I tried the driver. there are options for various MB that goes up to 128mb I chose the 128mb but I have a 256mb card... rebooted and windows booted to black screen, rebooted again and tried to set display options it took the settings but wouldn't apply them, reset again and it said the driver wasn't working and reloaded the 6448x480 16 color standard driver... any ideas?

Yes, I have an idea. This one: How about detailing your setup a bit first, so that we know which card you are talking about 😁
Is it listed in the "Tested video cards/chipsets" section?

In addition to VBEMP there's also SciTech Display Doctor (UniVBE) but I'm not sure which version would be right for Win9x (maybe 7.x?).

was gonna give it a go for x1300 and 6200 under windows ME which I can't seem to find a working driver for. the standard drivers corrupt the screen on 6200 and I can't find a x1300 driver

Just to be clear, neither VBEMP nor SciTech Display Doctor provide any support for hardware 3D acceleration .

wasn't sure, but it's better than nothing. I have a radeon 7000 on the way I'm gonna give a go

OK that makes sense, wasn't sure what your aim was. I know ruthan posted some info here about 6200 (with working driver versions listed), but that was for Win98.
Here's your previous thread about x1300 in case someone is wondering about that.

EDIT: Added the link to ruthan's post about Geforce Win98 driver versions.

the best driver I can figure out for the 6200 is 71.84 force install as it doesn't detect correctly. I tried windows 98se but actually had more issues with it than ME
what driver version did they use? because 71.84 still gives a lot of issues

prob doesn't matter too much I expect the 7000 will likely work but I'm disappointed to have to use such a slow card. I'm keeping a eye out for a 7500 or a 9100 but so far none that I like have come up
I was thinking about trying a x700 in a adapter but those are kinda hard to find also.

feel free to drop your best recommendation. the fx5500 I have doesn't work on this motherboard but it's a knockoff so another might do the trick but everything I tri is costing me a week wait and 30-100 bucks 🤣

What's your goal of the machine? Since you posted here instead of Marvin, I assume you want to play games rather than experiencing retro builds. If you really want to play games, then my best recommendation is to go with the VM route for Win98/ME. If you have a list of games that you wished to replay, then I can probably give more clues on how they will fair with Win98/ME VMs. It saves your time & money.... 🤣.

Otherwise, have fun with the build ...

For the moment I’ve abandoned this idea.

I got a radeon 7000 working without glitches though very slowly. I’m going to use it as a fall back while I search for a faster card that works
Myst, stratosphere, sim city 2000, halo(maybe 🤣), red alert 2, etc
