And here is my recently assembled AMD K6-2/400 Build. I was saving this NOS AT case for something special to me. I like how it turned out. The new Kingspao PSU that came with the case is working great too!

CPU: AMD K6-2 @ 400MHz
GPU: Alliance Semiconductor AT-25 Voodoo RUSH
NIC: Compaq PCI 10/100 Ethernet

Optical: 12x LG CD-ROM
Floppy A: HP 1.2MB 5.25" Diskette
Floppy B: Hitachi 1.44MB 3.5" Diskette

Case: Unknown brand - Beige Mid Tower AT/XT

Need to change video card, just recap broken Voodoo 3 2000 and it is alive again

2. 486/DX2 PC

Some history remarks: Two months ago I built VGA32 emulator (VIC20 and Altair 8800 emulation) for my 12 years old son. He was very happy, so I decided to find some real old hardware.
At work we have old building that was printing house long time ago. Now it is abandoned , but we have the keys and I started old parts hunt there 😀
So, the first prey was 486 PC:
Windows95OSR2
PC Chips M912 board with 256KB L2
Intel 486/DX2 CPU
512MB HDD
2x16MB RAM
Trident 9000 video 1MB
Later I added Yamaha 719 ISA audio and some CD-ROM
It was great fun to install Win 95 from floppy drive, never seen my son so happy 😀

Second raid in the old building:

3. Digital Venturis 575
Windows95OSR2
CPU Pentium 75MHz
RAM 8MB onboard (later added 4x8MB)
S3 Trio onboard (raplaced with S3 Virge/GX 2MB)
512MB HDD (wating for CF card with IDE adapter)
PC speaker sound (later added AWE64)
No CD-ROM (later added Asus CD Writer)
This PC is now my son's primary DOS gaming machine, sitting in his room. LCD used instead of the originall monitor.

4. Compaq AP550
Found it for 25 euro online.
Windows2000Pro SP4
1GHZ P3 Coppermine (raplaced with 2xP3 Coppermine 800MHz from old Compaq server)
4x128MB 800MHz RDRAM
32MB Matrox G400 (looking for some GeForce 2 Pro/GTS/Ultra)
2x18.2GB SCSI 10000rpm Compaq HDD's, again from the old server
Yamaha 724 PCI audio
CD Writer and VXA-320 tape drive

These are all awesome builds!

Compaq Portable 1 (dual FDD) unit from 1983.

Specs:
NEC D8088D CPU
256KB on-board RAM
Compaq OEM Floppy Controller
Compaq OEM CGA card
Green Phosphorus CRT monitor
2 floppy drives (360KB) --> both need repairs
DFI MF-100 RAM expansion/RTC/Serial card (can also have a GamePort and LPT port) with 320KB RAM (needs work)
Quantum Plus HardCard 20 (boots up without issues after replacing the bad rubber with heat shrink tubing)
Western Digital WD8003E BNC/AUI-15 card

The keyboard needs repair as well (foam contact pads disintegrated) and I have the necessary parts to repair the keyboard and awaiting on the RAM for the memory expansion card, along with an XT-IDE w/ the CF card slot (single slot setup), rechargeable coin cell 3.6V batteries, and a CR2032 battery holder for the memory expansion card since it has RTC.

Once I get the floppy drives to work or connect my newly acquired 360KB drive, I'll be backing up every driver and file on multiple diskettes.

New 80 pin SCA scsi hdd mobile rack for my ALR Revolution 2x server. Is the most advanced hdd rack I ever saw, full aluminium, nice LCD display, temp, voltage, MTBF and fan monitoring. You can set thresholds for each and the rack will buzz when it will be reached. It has 2 cooling fans, the front one has an dust filter. By default only the back fan is working and the front one will start when the temp threshold is reached. You can even set the scsi ID from the panel.

Oh yes, HX08. Built like a tank.
I have a few smaller HX45 cases. They don't get more robust than that.

Just for fun, i am setting up a superfast win98 system.
It's a socket 754 Athlon 64 3000 with 512 Mb ram.
I also have a 3400, so maybe i will swap it out.
the videocard is a Ati 9600 and the soundcard a Soundblaster live.
The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-K8VM800M, it has Agp and all the win98 drivers are available on the website.
The cpu fan connector is not temperature controlled, so i used a resistor to slow down the fan, it's now barely audible, but still cools well.
I tried using the onboard sata ports with a 60 Gig ssd, but it wasn't recognized, seems like the Sata ports only understand sata 1.
i tried using a Ide to sata adapter, which worked at first, but after a few days the ssd suddenly got corrupted, lots of file errors, Windows wouldn't start anymore.
Now i reinstalled on a ide drive.
For now it's sitting on my test bench until i find a case to build it in.

That's going to make a super fast 98 machine. For the CPU fan you can use speedfan to monitor your temps and adjust fan speeds. You don't need a 4 pin pwm fan to control fan speeds.

I tried speedfan, i can reed out the rpm and temps, but can't control the rpm. Doesn't mater, it works fine now.

I'm more of a fan of the Pentium III platform than of sound cards. I know the Sound Blaster PCI128 isn't the best, but I just had it there. If the board had sound on board, I would even have left it at that.

I am always open to suggestions with what I could replace the SB PCI128.
