I have an IBM PS/1 that came to me in a very miserable state. After a very long restoration process that involved 3D designing and printing parts and a very detailed cleaning it is back up and running using a 94 PS/1 multimedia image. It has a few weird quirks that I've not been able to fix.
1. Error 164: The PC has 4 IBM branded 4MB FPM 72pin sticks for a total of 16MB RAM. It works flawlessly except for one issue: Error 164 at every boot. If I go into the system configuration utility (BIOS) then the detected RAM shows up as 32MB with no option of changing it. Any ideas on how to fix this weird problem would be welcome. Clearing the BIOS has been futile and I can't seem to resolve this problem.
2. Kind of picky about keyboards. Some PS/2 keyboards that work absolutely fine on other systems work on this PC for a random amount of time from 10 seconds to 10 minutes before becoming unresponsive. I can't figure out why. Capacitor or power delivery issues?
Also, I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether upgrading this system from 128K cache to 256K cache would yield any performance improvements.
