if you have another 286 using the same kind of ROM you can probably get it to boot with the roms from this board 😀

I have a few 286 but how do you know if's a compatible ROM?!

And yes you are missing the RAM

Buy a set of 4 30pin SIMM sockets. You don't need to solder them on, but they'll push straight in to those SIPP sockets on the bottom of the board there, next to that last ISA slot. Don't bother with DIP DRAM, it will be limited to a maximum of 1MB with the HT12 chipset anyway, whereas with the SIPP/SIMM sockets you should be able to o use up to 4MB unless it's an absolutely brain dead HT12 bios implementation.

Most 286 ROMs are swappable. The chipsets weren't specific enough yet to really prevent your computer from POSTing without the correct ROM.

There's a ton of Headland HT12 bios images, they all should work on each board - some have different options for speeding up the ISA clock, or enable zero wait states or the HT12 party trick of turning your extended memory into EMS.

What I've done with a board similar was to take SIMM sockets off a junked board and stuffed them in the SIPP sockets and installed SIMMs.... Or if you've got a box full of SIMMs you can solder them to single row IDC type headers.

Hmmmmm will need to see if I have spare IO card or borrow one from one of my systems since I tested this on a piece of cardboard with only VGA installed.
