I've got a Gembird Cablexpert HDMI-VGA signal converter to use with my notebook that only has VGA-out.
When I connect it to the TV and switch it to the VGA output nothing happens. The TV is set to a working HDMI input port and the notebook's VGA-out works with a different display that has VGA-in.
I've tried using it with my PC's HDMI-out and a monitor's VGA-in, it doesn't work that way either. No signal.
Shitty PRC adapter or am I missing something? TV is a Hisense 50A7100F.

The description I found says it connects a HDMI device to a VGA monitor (not the other way), so it wouldn't work with your laptop as described.

Not sure why it wouldn't work in your other scenario, but there's so much that can go wrong with a PC I would test with another HDMI device.

So I messed up. I've tried it with a Sapphire HD6850 HDMI-out and an LG L1918S VGA-in. No signal.

Some TVs don't accept older HDMI signals like HDMI 1.2 1.3, that might be your issue.
