That was a great read. Has NASA had any more updates on the data anomalies of Voyager 1? From what I've been reading the probe is still sending back science data and it appears that the signal strength hasn't been effected.
I'm sorry. 😔 I'm not sure to be honest, from what I read so far, the people working with the Voyagers
seemed to be rather clueless still. And a bit annoyed, too. 🤷♂️
They kinda seem to be talking in defense currently, continue to repeatedly state how many times the twin probes outlived their mission already..
I guess that's needed to counter the sensational journalism.
Nowadays press uses any occasion to make the project seem as a failure.
They also oversimplify facts, cut information etc.
To name an example: The travel time of the radio signals.
The perspective is completely missing in press.
From our point-of-view, it may need around 22 hours (to Voyager 1), yes.
But if we *could* travel with the signals, it wouldn't take 22 hours.
That's basic relatively. Time dilation.
We're living in 2022, someone should expect that humanity has gained a basic understanding of this by now. *sigh*😔
That's in a strong contrast to the early years of the mission, I guess.
Back then, journalists were very respectful and encouraged.
They were brave enough to ask scientific or intellectual questions and even print them.
There's video footage at YT that shows it. 🙂
