I've recently bought a Packard Bell Executive (MM 9005 D ), which is a dead ringer for my first Intel PC, which makes me very happy indeed.
When it arrived the clock battery was dead, and it complained about that in the BIOS on powering up, so I swapped the battery.
Now it no longer complains about the clock, and in Windows time advances as normal, but when powered off, the time doesn't advance at all. It retains the time that was last set, so the battery appears to be working.
Could the RTC have failed, or is there a jumper/BIOS setting somewhere to unfreeze it?
