When i play doom on the laptop the audio cuts out after the floppy logo loads on the bottom right corner of the screen. Could running windows 98 off a usb be a problem or could it be something else?

Well I'd check in device mangler to see if any hint of USBness is sharing IRQs with any hint of Audioness and make it not so.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.
