I think my win98 pc build is dead - My Socket 478 Build (Win 98se) - DEAD

-will not post
-slight electric burning smell when powered on
-don't think graphics card is dying/dead but have tried a different card and same result

what happened, the graphics card fan clip fell out and it was hanging while it was on (lucky enough not anything intense) and didn't notice until there was small electric burning smell and the picture of monitor went off and left powered off overnight and re-pasted the gpu and fan back on and nothing

I have try the graphics card in another agp pc and it posts and boot into windows but apart of me is not 100% convinced but it seems ok other very tiny electric burning smell but maybe that is just residual smell from earlier but possibly thinking it is the mobo that has died or the chipset (which sits in-between the graphic and cpu - which you will see in pictures in build link)

but in worst case scenario - a new build will most likely be the case

if that is the case - would like to try and use as much parts from old build as possible but open to ideas and also if anyone has any ideas where there could be:
-improvements (chipset, ram type etc)
-better parts (motherboards, gpu, ram, cpu etc)
-more optimal/strong performance for windows 98se and games from 97/98-01/02 ish
-not bothered but not dismissive about sata, onboard audio, hyper-threading
