I picked up a stack of 3-button PS/2 Logitech Mouseman M-S38 mice recently. I was hoping to use them with a PS/2 to Serial adapter; however, no luck when I install the Logitech drivers. Mouse not found.
I have installed both Mouseware v7.2 and v8.0 and tried CuteMouse drivers. Both Mouseware versions do not see the mouse and fail to load the driver; the CuteMouse driver loads, but the mouse does not work (tested in Buck Rogers...Countdown).
I am confident the drivers are working as I have tested with another Logitech serial mouse and that was working fine - both in Windows 3.1 and in the Buck Rogers game.
What I am wondering, does anyone know if the Mouseman M-S38 support serial protocols? Especially though a converter? Or is it PS/2 only? I did some looking here on the site, and on Google and could not find much of anything in the way of documentation, specs, etc. I did see in a ReadMe, it stated if the device did not come with an adapter in the box it does not support it...of course, picked these up loose.
Running MS-DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.1, Socket 3 AMD 486DX4-100, w/ 24MB RAM, etc. Otherwise not having any issues with this computer.
Lovely mouse for retro builds - ball mouse, nice gray color, etc. Just would love to use it via serial for non-PS/2 support boards...if possible.
