I had to reinstall Windows 95 on my Pentium 233 MMX PC recently, and I've been meaning to get back to playing through JJ2. There's only one annoying problem, I made sure to back up my save file and while I can load that save just fine after reinstalling the game, I can't access the 2nd one I had previously completed or the 3rd one I'm currently on from the episode menu. It says to play the previous episodes first as if I've never done it before. I'm currently about mid-way through the 3rd episode. Where is this information stored and is there any way I can modify it?

I believe it puts DWORDS to indicate completed episodes under the game's "System" registry key, as follows:

1[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Epic MegaGames\Jazz Jackrabbit 2\1.20\System]
2"0"=hex:01,00,00,00
3"1"=hex:01,00,00,00
4"2"=hex:01,00,00,00
5"3"=hex:01,00,00,00

(The path may differ depending on which game and which version you have installed).

You don't have to mess with it manually, though. Just start from the first available episode and use the JJNEXT cheat code to advance to the next level repeatedly; it will take you through all the episodes and unlock them in the process.
