I was just told about DOSBox and readily d/l and installed. I have been working with DOS/Clipper for 15 years so I was particularly interested to see if DOSBox will give me more memory for my App than Win XP DOS. And it sure does!!!
But the Clipper Apps don't seem to work, they hang when trying to open a table in shared mode. Also the Make utility hangs.
I'm wondering if there is something that I need to do that will have Clipper work or is this a known incompatibility?

Did you search the forums here for Clipper issues?

Maybe the yet-to-be-released 0.67 will fixes your issue?

Thanks for your reply. And I looked at the thread you sent me, and it seems that 1. it should be working in the next version. 2. for now they recommend to download a recent CVS. I did this but the CVS says it won't run since it is looking for libpng13.dll. I have no clue what this is, where to get it. Would you know?

I find the DLLs that are needed and I downloaded them. Now this error goes away, but a new one appears: "the procedure entry point SDL_strlcat could not be located in the dynamic link library SDL.dll".

Which of the many CVS builds did you pick?

My guess is, that the libpng13.dll you found is not compatible with the SDL-library that comes with DOSBox. In my experience, tt works best if you make a clean, duplicate install of 0.65, and then drop the files from the CVS-build into that duplicate install.

duplicate install? would it not just install over the current one? shouldn't I remove the current one and then do a new install?

I think the installer will let you choose the name of the directory, e.g. %ProgramFiles%\DOSBox-CVS-070130.

The thing I always do to get a CVS version ( http://cvscompile.aep-emu.de/dosbox.htm ) of DOSBox working is also download the build of ykhwong Daum Cafe. Then copy the dll's from ykhwongs build to the downloaded CVS version. You only need to rename the libpng-3.dll to libpng13.dll.

The SDL.dll library you've got is not a good version for the CVS version. Because for the new version some new functions got added to the SDL.dll. The one on the SDL site is also a bit buggy so don't use that one.

To create the dosbox.conf, start DOSBox and type ( config -wc dosbox.conf ).
