The original Tomb Raider and Tomb Raider 2 was a single disc but the "Gold" release is two discs. My research suggests that this is an expansion that adds four new levels. How does this work? Does the second disc include an installer that copies files and a new icon to the desktop? Is the first disc otherwise the same as the non-gold?

I don't own any of these games. I want to buy originals and I'm trying to sort through all the different releases.

You might want to edit the thread title to clarify that you're talking about Tomb Raider 2.

I was writing up a response based on the original game and only half-way through noticed that you actually meant TR2.

Sorry. It was meant to say Tomb Raider 2 but it would appear that the first game also had a similar two-disc release. I mistakenly thought that this was only for the second game.

I've updated the title since the question applies to both Tomb Raider 1 and 2.
