Quake only has the Vérité proprietary renderer. Mechwarrior 2 and POD would be better candidates.

POD's S3d "renderer" is just the software renderer + a handful of shadow polygons rendered with S3d. From a low res video on YouTube the CIF version looks suspiciously like the software renderer as well.

Two proprietary coverage games: I76 Gold and Croc.

Interstate '76 Gold / Nitro is the big one I think of out-of-the-box, which is technically similar to Mechwarrior 2 but not split off to multiple OEM editions. That one SKU covers:

- 3dfx Glide
- Direct3D 5
- PowerVR SGL
- Rendition

Croc's another impressively covering one, but not one I think about a lot for leaving out SGL and not bothering with Direct3D:

- 3dfx Glide
- ATI 3DCIF
- MSI
- S3D

Crime Cities beats that in the MiniGL pissing contest - as techland written their own minigl drivers where vendors faltered! this is already very documented!!! Some of these drivers even can be more compatibility resilient than the official MiniGLs!
- 3dfx Glide (MiniGL)
- Direct3D(MiniGL)
- OpenGL
- MSI (MiniGL)
- PowerVR SGL (MiniGL)
- S3D (MiniGL)

But translating from OpenGL cannot be optimal.
