I have a lot of the Battleground series, unfortunately I also have Windows XP so I cannot get them to work. I have the dosbox, but I cant seem to get it to run on it! If anyone knows what all I have to do get to run, or if it will even run... I would be most appreciative if ya would throw me a bone.

Try searching the forums - I know those games have been discussed on VOGONS before.

all I get when I type in Antietam is Sid Meiers Antietam. No references to Battleground games.

Aren't those Win3.x games? If you can get Win3.1 running in DOSBox you have pretty good chances. Either look for instructions how to install and run Win3.1 with S3 drivers or use ykhwong's build with Tseng drivers -- if you have WFW 3.11 the second approach is easier.

He said that those are Windows 3.1 (the version before Windows 95) games, so you can't run them directly in DOSBox because DOSBox only runs DOS games.

There are experimental versions of DOSBox that allow you to run Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups 3.11, and if you set this up then you might be able to run the games in DOSBox. I've never tried it though, so I can't guarantee anything.

I pulled my old copy of Antietam Battleground 5 off the shelf and installed it on my WinXP (SP2) system. Did the complete 'custom' install with all the files going on the hard drive. The game engine was made to run under either Windows 3.1 OR Win95 (OSR2+). Left the game CD-ROM in the drive for the inevitable CD-ROM check and the game worked quite well with the 1280x960x32bpp screen...

It works fine under WinXP (SP2). I put both Union and Rebel sides under the AI control and let the AI have at it...

No need for a DOSBOX/Win31 trial here, just straight Windows seems to work fine... Attached is a screen-shot.
