Hi, dear retro-community!

Not long ago I became obsessed with collecting of XO computer hardware. At last months I see hundreds proposals on domestic flea markets and noticed strange thing. 99% of old PC expansion cards are sale without a bracket. Why? What do they do with them? Maybe I don't know something?

Thanks

Steel is recyclable, at least where I live. There is money in it, albeit not as much as other metals.

It's not uncommon to find computer parts stripped of various metals, particularly heatsinks. I wouldn't be surprised if people are stripping brackets for the same reason.

It has recycle value. Just much less than copper or aluminum. If you have a lot, it adds up. My friend runs a mechanic shop. He makes a decent chunk of change when he turns in pallets of old iron and steel brake rotors.
