WIndows 98se Promise S150 TX4 Performance when using RAID 0 and 1GB network card.

Using 1 drive on Promise Fasttrack S150 TX4 I get about 75MBs in Windows 98 while using a GB network adapter. If I configure it dropped RAID 0 my performance dropped to 60MBs. Even without RAID I noticed it takes Windows way longer to boot while installing second SARA hard drive even if RAID was not configured on the Promise TX4. I tried different slots and various configurations until I noticed my performance increased without my 1GB network adapter installed. Without the adapter my RAID 0 performance was 100MBs. My drivers are definitely working correctly and not running in DOS mode because performance for the promise card is terrible without the driver installed. We are talking less than 10MBs. Is this just a bandwidth limitation of the Shuttle AV18E using a VIA 694T chipset. Should I try and get my hands on a 10/100 network card since I don't get GB performance anyway?

As far as I understand, weak processors of the socket 7 class or a couple of generations newer cannot process data fast enough for gigabit network cards. For example, on Pentium 1 there is no difference in speed between a 100-megabit card and a gigabit one.
You may be able to lower the speed of your network card in the settings without having to buy another card.

This is a Pentium 3 Tualatin 1.4 so I was hoping it would be able to take some advantage of it considering it was faster then the early P4s. I have a little more info now after restoring my config between the Promise card running both disks in a single RAID 0 array or 2 2 disks in their own single disk RAID 0 array. The issue may not have in fact been related to the network card. I'm going to make another post because it is a completely different issue.
