Hi, I have a Gigabyte GA-586T2 Socket 7 motherboard, and I am trying to find out which AMD CPU's/speeds it supports.
Unfortunately, when checking Gigabytes website:
- The manual only lists up to AMD-K6 / 233 (3.2V)
- The specifications page on the site says: AMD®5K86, K6®(PR166 to 300) Processor Support
- On the BIOS updates page, the single BIOS listed for download says: Support up to AMD K6-2/400 (66MHz external frequency x 2 ratio)

Just wondering if anyone has any first hand experience with this board and which AMD CPU's they've confirmed working on it?

Thanks in advance 😀

The multiplier of 2x for Chomper core (K6-2) is mapped to 6x, therefore the CPU runs at a frequency of 66x6, 396 (aka 400) MHz.
It is also possible to run plus versions of K6-2/III on the board, modified BIOS by Jan is here: http://www.steunebrink.info/k6plus.htm

This is a very good quality S7 board 😀

Using Jan's bios, you also override the HDD limitations, and if you select 75Mhz Fsb you can use up to 75*6=450Mhz K6 processors no problem.
