Heyyyyyyyyyo,
I have a Dell Dimension L1000R and I want to know if the machine has ISA slots. I don't really know anything about ISA. I'm only experienced in PCI and a bit of AGP. I REALLY want to get a Sound Blaster 16 to replace my trash PCI 128 card. Any knowledge or insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thank ye all.

Would a ISA to PCI slot work for a Sound Blaster 16 ISA card?

Based on images from a google image search - it appears like you have 4 pci slots. No isa, No agp.

No, the motherboard is based on the i810e chipset, commonly lacking ISA slots. 🙁

ISA slots are 8/16-bit bus whose connectors are usually colored black.

Super unlikely. I assume you want better DOS sound. Your best bet would be some PCI SoundBlaster with emulated dos support - Sound Blaster Live! cards were common.

Thanks. That's disappointing but I'll look into the live cards.

Both of those are probably fine - take a look at this thread - Sound Blaster LIVE! Versions The consensus seems to be to avoid the SB0200.

I think I'll go with the 0060 then. Is it a better choice in general?

Just a word of wisdom, if you're like the rest of us it's incredibly likely you're going to end up building another system anyway with ISA, before you compromise with this one 😁

But for his current system, a live! would be a great improvement. So it is a good move anyway.
