Hello, I'm playing with my collection of matrox cards they all work fine on my 440bx board (Abit BE6-2) except the G550.
In dos everything goes right, in windows after installing the drivers the card goes nuts some minutes after being in windows, it shows crazy artifacts, the screen begins to flicker, if I load a 3d application it just hangs.
I'm in doubt if the card is broken or if the problem is the platform by itself since in dos everything works like a charme, last time the card crashed while doing the Final Reality benchmark and it corrupted the whole application (I had to reinstall it).

Is there any known compatibility issues? The specific model of the card is: MGA G550 7012-03. The one with one dvi port and the vga port rotated.

I'm sorry for the bump.

Today I received a Matrox G250, i'm using the very same platform (where I tested the G200, G400 and other older matrox cards without issues).
When I try to start any d3d application I got the following error:
Could not get handle for destination texture handle.
D3DERR_TEXTURE_CREATE_FAILED.

I also tried to run quake 2 opengl (which again worked fine with all cards except the g550), the screen has gone out of range.

The card works fine in dos, just as the g550.

Is the card faulty or is it a sudden platform issue? I obviously reinstalled windows from scratch.

Apparently the explanataion of the error is this one:
The dimensions of a current texture are invalid. This can occur when an application attempts to use a texture that has dimensions that are not a power of 2 with a device that requires them.

I checked just in case if a memory chip is damaged or not detected but apparently the 8mb are detected correctly with mxinfo.

Now I have the same error with the G200, that's weird, I'm starting to think the problem could be the motherboard.

Edit: I've somewhat fixed the issue installing the directx 9 (I never updated them they were version 6.1), while I couldn't solve the opengl issue with quake 2, as soon I start it the screen tell me out of range, if I use another refresh rate it disables the opengl and goes in software mode only.
