Hi!

I'm new to Dosbox and mainly installed it for using Fasttracker2 with Windows Xp.
Everything works well, expect that I can't use the ALT + F5 command for pasting something copied off a block. -> Dosbox always takes a screenshot when I press that combination.

Thats strange, in the readme its said that CTRL + F5 (and not ALT + F5) is set for screenshot by default.

I also tried to change it in the mapper, but the changings, though saved and readable [ http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v93/Shinobi … /screenshot.jpg ] don't take any effect. 😖

thx in advance 😀

FastTracker and keyboard shortcuts

My request in that thread is still outstanding. Though I've also just come across Skale... wow.

When I was last following the tracker scene a couple years ago, Skale was just starting development. Good to see that it's finally matured. I'll have to check it out - I don't like ModPlug Tracker's interface even though I never really used any of the DOS trackers.

Skale is nice aswell, but the oldskool-mod-effects aren't implemented yet, and sample-editing is still quite alpha
(at least last time i used it).

Really strange, I just wanna copy and paste blocks but DOSBox doesnt't let me 😒
Targaff you seem to have a similar problem. I also wondered if perhaps the problem might be my keyboard, which has a toggle for the F-keys (microsoft multimedia), but I don't get similar issues with other softwares.

The mapper is great - if it worked. 😊

I don't like modplug aswell HunterZ, its too unstructured, the interface is not exactly intuitive to me.

My favorite is still protracker 😀

I agree with that 😀 I made a ton of tracker music in the 90s, but when I left the Amiga and went to the PC in 1999 I became a lot less creative with trackers. Shame really, and there's never been a tracker on the PC I really liked.

But now, thanks to this thread I know of Skale which I didn't before. Googled it and it looks very nice, so thanks for that 😀 I will most likely play around with it this weekend.

I don't think the multimedia stuff is an issue; I have a bog-standard 102 keyboard and have the same problems. It simply comes down to the fact that a lot of FT2's keyboard shortcuts happen to unfortunately coincide with some of the important keys for dosbox functionality, so it becomes necessary to come up with some layout that works for both without them interfering with each other. I'm sure it's not as difficult as all that, it just hasn't happened yet.

as for Skale, I'd never heard of it until I stumbled across it the other day, and when I loaded it up I was gobsmacked - it was simultaneously usable and gorgeous (I always struggled with the IT/ST3 layouts). I reckon the interface skin could be made a bit smaller, though, and the splash screen should just go, period. I'll be giving it a go over the next few weeks, in any case - and wish it all the best 😀

If the re-assigning of the screenshot-function would work I'd be happy. I can use all other keys (also copy + paste pattern after turning off all the actions involving f4 or f5 in the mapper), seems to just be an issue with the alt-key.
If at least one could change fasttracker2 shortcuts.

About the splashscreen, there was a skinning-tool (download disabled atm, unfortunatly) which allowed you to change to a more sublte splashscreen (a picture with a note).

re-assigning should work. there is no reason why it wouldn't work.

Heureka!

It wasn't a Dosbox-specific issue, I just assumed that because it only occured when I use fasttracker2 dosbox.
I reality its been a setting from my ati graphic-cards-driver. 😅

I found the solution here:www.ghisler.ch/wikide/index.php/Alt-F5_ ... cht_(mehr) (in german).

Modifying the regedit finally unbound the creepy key-combination. 😀
