Hello. Considering getting an ISA sound card, and been browsing one Opti 924 -based option. Would someone who has experience with these cards be able to confirm my expectation, that post init utility run at boot, no extra steps/TSRs would be required to have MIDI output wotking in pure MSDOS 6.22? I would like to use X3MB DreamBlaster with it, so curious if this is a viable configuration. Maybe @boxpressed, as he had reported buying a very similar card, only almost a decade ago. 😀

Answering my own question as I just got a card with Opti 82C924 which is very similar looking to Typhoon card here, only mine has a Crystal DAC chip and OPL chip clone instead of one labeled as Yamaha.

With both drivers available on that site and UNISOIND I am able to use external MIDI device when connected to the joystick port just fine from DOS 6.2. Have no "wave" daughterboards to try for the same though.

Checked in Kyrandia, Doom, Lands of Lore, Dark Forces, Sam and Max and Blackthorne.
