Good morning,

I have an Aria16 sound card, revision 2 so it doesn't have any jumpers. It is attached to a 486DX2 66. I have the drivers installed, which I got from this site. Doss can see the card, Windows can see the card, Wolfenstine 3D (which I'm using to test) can see the card, but yet I get no sound from the card. My speakers do work, verified on another system, the installer has verified the card, but still nothing. I have checked the fuse on it as well, which is good. Am I looking at a dead card? TIA

Which driver exactly?

And what sound option are you selecting in Wolf3D? This thing does decent Sound Blaster digital audio and laughably bad AdLib FM, as well as native support from quite a lot of games.

I used these drivers successfully: http://vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?fileid=7 … &menustate=36,0

Yes that is the exact set of drivers I am using as well. I am using the Sound Blaster/Ad Lib options on Wolf3D

Do you have a line in AUTOEXEC.BAT stating: SET BLASTER A220 I7 D1? If not, try adding that (maybe with T1 on the end too, can't quite remember which type of SB it emulates)

OK, that checks out. Quite a lot going on in those files, nothing obviously problematic, but how's your conventional memory? Looks like more is getting LH'd than would fit in high memory.

Only other suggestion would be a second opinion, some other game with different codebase to test.

There's what Mem says.. I'll try Dune 2. According to the literature it is supposed to have native support for it.

No sound from Dune 2 either, using sound blaster or Ad Lib as the sound, same with SC2000.. which literally has Aria as an option

Drat. Afraid I'm out of ideas. I dug up my card and aside from older chips (dating to Q4 1993 instead of 1994) and a bit less dust, it's identical, including which components are present and which aren't. I had trouble with my card initially, but once it showed green on the installer, everything worked as expected, most importantly: it actually produced sound.

Sad.. Mine is probably dead then. I understand this is a fairly rare card now too.. but seems this one might be destined for the recycle bin
